Built out of need.
Our founding team works in schools. Datilume started in admissions, where one of us was the person everyone came to for numbers. Counting was easy. Going deeper was not. Ask which families, from where, at which point in the process, and the answer existed. It just lived in several lists and a wall of formulas. When the formulas ran out, someone read down the rows by hand.
Leadership saw one clean number. They never saw the day behind it. Every real question cost a full day, and that day came out of a job that was already full: interviewing families, offering what the numbers suggested, trying to stay ahead of the season. Being proactive is hard when the answer shows up a day late. We got tired of spending a day to learn something this basic, so we built a faster way to see what was going on.
It worked. The spreadsheets went away, the data finally came together, and we knew our school should not be the only one working this way.
